Country Dancing 2025

We’ve got a new FSC Country Dancing Manual for 2025! This features 20 dances with improved calling instructions plus sheet music for the tunes for musicians as well as some more context and beautiful illustrations. There’s also updated recordings of the tunes, see below, and demonstration videos of the dances. We’ve also created a Musicians Manual which contains arranged and transcribed sheet music for standard, Bb and bass instruments.  And we’ve got some thoughts on which are the best instruments to play in the field.

Country Dancing has long been an important part of FSC, with papers from the 1960s showing that daily dancing and live bands used to be commonplace. The purpose of creating the new manual is to bring fun and energy to FSC, and make it easier for more people to dance, call, and play live music better. It’s been tested in the field, and the hope is that children can learn how fun it is to do Country Dancing in time with the music, and that we get more callers, more bands, and more people who know the dances by heart.
